Natalia Epstein Recently Spotlighted in the Lowell Sun for Cupping
After we saw the remnants of cupping therapy on the bodies of many of the US olympic athletes last month, the Lowell Sun decided to spotlight Wellcare's acupuncturist, Natalia Epstein, who utilizes this ancient form of cupping with a modern twist.(See below to view the the Lowell Sun's video segment). What is Cupping?: Cupping is an ancient, alternative medicinal treatment in which the therapist places special cups on the skin to create suction. This therapy has many purposes: decrease pain, as well as increase blood flow and reduce muscle tension.
Traditional cupping methods utilize a flame to create the suction within the cup, which then sits on the skin surface for a length of time.
A more modernized method -one that Natalia uses at Wellcare - utilizes a pump, rather than fire, to create the suction. The cups are also moved around the area, all the while maintaining the suction to the body, to better release myofascial tension and improve blood flow to the targeted area.
Elite athletes have realized the benefits of cupping to maintain their ultimate potential. Call or email us today to realize the benefits that Cupping and acupuncture can offer.
